C.J. Wilson in the Process of an Epic Collapse

Ranger fans don’t like C.J. Wilson.  He’s kind of a douche and he was tolerated while he was here, but once he went to the division rivals, Ranger fans were free to hate him, and hate him they do.

So, if they haven’t been paying attention, they should find this news morbidly entertaining.  He’s in the process of an epic collapse during the part of the season the Angels need him the most.

He is 0-5 over his last 10 starts with a 6.45 ERA.  He gave up 6 runs on 8 hits tonight, to the Red Sox, in a game that the Angels finally won 14-13, in the 10th inning.

To give you some perspective, Wilson was 9-4 going into July, and one of the best pitchers in the league.  On June 26, he had a 2.36 ERA and opponents were hitting .204 off of him.  Since then, he hasn’t won game.  In 11 starts, he’s lost 5 with 6 no decisions.  His ERA has climbed to 3.83.  He’s 9-9 and opponents are now hitting him at a pace of .233.  In July, he was 0-3 with a 4.23 ERA and in August he is 0-2 with a 8.31 ERA in 5 starts.   In those 5 games, he’s given up 24 runs, 20 of them earned, along with 5 homeruns and 12 walks.

It’s hard to find a pitcher this season who has gotten so bad, so fast, especially one who was a top Cy Young contender before the All-Star break.

At this point, I think it’s ok for Ranger fans to do this:
